Event to promote the activity of a Japanese company 「the 40th anniversary of Pentel (Switzerland)」

On 13 July, H.E. Ambassador Etsuro Honda and the Japanese stationery company <Pentel (Switzerland)>, which celebrates its 40th anniversary, hosted a reception at the Embassy of Japan in Bern to present Japanese stationery. Around 200 guests, including ambassadors, diplomats, government officials, representatives of stationery stores and retail companies attended the event.
In the reception hall, the works of the winners of the 47th International Children’s Art Exhibition 2017 were exhibited, and the children were presented their awards in a ceremony.
The award ceremony was followed by Kagamibiraki. Kagamibiraki - a Japanese tradition on the occasion of happy event. The cover of a Sake barrel is broken and happiness is shared. Futhurmore, Mr. Maaya Wakasugi, a famous artist calligrapher, demonstrated the art of Shodô on stage.
In the garden some exhibitions of Japanese stationery, such as Gel ink ball-point pens, Brush pens, mechanical pencils and so on were presented. During the event, the guests enjoyed drawing pictures and writing Katakana using a large variety of Japanese writing instruments.
