A talk: “Unveiling the Birth of Planets” by Dr. Yuhito Shibaike, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan

On December 11, a lecture titled "Unveiling the Birth of Planets" by Dr. Yuhito Shibaike, Project Research Fellow of the ALMA Project at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, was held at the University of Bern. The event attracted approximately 150 participants, almost full capacity.
This event commemorated the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Switzerland. It also highlighted the research collaboration between the University of Bern and Japanese space research institutions, as well as the University's participation at the Swiss Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Dr. Shibaike explained how the Solar system appeared and the birth process of planets .The participants listened attentively with great interest.
Following the lecture, a Japanese-style reception was held with the support of the Embassy. Attendees enjoyed Japanese food and sake, which were prepared mostly by our Chef, providing an excellent opportunity to promote Japanese food culture.
