Screening of the film “JOHAN, L'ÉPREUVE DU FEU”
2025/5/28

On 15 May, JOHAN, L'ÉPREUVE DU FEU was screened at the Japan Information and Culture Centre (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan in Switzerland, in cooperation with the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia. The film tells the story of a young Swiss man named Johan Leutwiler and his journey to become a Japanese swordsmith. The film's Swiss director, Romain Guélat, also visited the JICC on the day of the screening.
Before the screening of the film, Mr. Matthew Sykes-Gelder and Ms. Maria Essers gave a demonstration of iaido, and after the film, there was a lively Q&A session between Mr. Guélat, Mr. Sykes-Gelder, and the audience.
This time, since the film was screened in French only, this event was conducted thoroughly in French, which became the first experience for the JICC.
