Japan's Friendship Ties Programs MIRAI (Mutual understanding, Intellectual Relations and Academic Exchange Initiative) invites groups of promising young leaders from Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus who study politics, security policies, economics, science and technology, arts and culture, international relations, Asian studies, Japan Studies or other related fields, and also who are expected to play an active role in international society and provides opportunities to have intellectual exchanges with Japanese students of the same generations and scholars. This program is entitled as the "MIRAI" with the Japanese word MIRAI (pronounce like / "me-rye") which means "Future".

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS 2021/2022

The program aims to deepen participants’ understanding of Japan and its policy, to promote mutual understandings and thus build a basis for future friendship and cooperation between Japan and their regions. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) aims to outline the program would offer a great opportunity
  1. To promote mutual understandings
  2. To enhance intellectual discussions
  3. To build strong networks among future leaders of Japan and the world.
Also, MOFA would strongly encourage all participants to disseminate information about Japan's attractions learned throughout the program through SNS (Social Network Services) (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).

Students enrolled in Swiss or Liechtenstein universities can apply for one program. The program is aimed at specific fields of study.
Students enrolled in Swiss or Liechtenstein universities are only eligible to apply for “Group 4: Science, Technology and Innovation

Group 4: Science, Technology and Innovation
Online Pre-Exchange program will be in January/February (TBD)
Visiting to Japan program (6-day travel visit to Japan) will be in February/March (TBD)
Application deadline is 7, November 2021.

The registration is online and you can apply here.

Please note that the visiting Japan programs may not be implemented due to the situation of the novel corona-virus diseases (COVID-19) or unforseen events.
